Sabai

This is the first post I’ll write about life in Thailand - my thoughts on living here, visiting here, and some advice to people who are coming here, much of it learned through down n’ dirty experience.  Each post will be written… well, whenever I get inspired to write about a particular topic.  All will be available through the ‘No Bullshit Advice on Living in or Visiting Thailand’ category. My goal is to help people navigate the often confusing array of cultural and societal differences that trip most of us up.

I’ll keep this first post short and just say that Thailand is a great country, full of great people.  However, it’s not a western country, and a lot of things here simply don’t work the same way they would back home, which can often be absolutely infuriating.  There have been days where I’ve thought “I hate Thailand, Thai people, Thai food, Thai flora and fauna…” etc.    But overall, it’s a nice place to live, whether you like the big city or a quiet beach.  It’s addicting - I originally came here for a four-month holiday, and that was in 2001.

Further posts will address the specifics of day-to-day live in Thailand.
