As I’ve said before, Bangkok is an interesting city, but it ain’t a very pretty city. It has pockets of beauty, sure, but the cement:vegetation ratio is absurdly off-kilter. However, that’s not to say you can’t get inspiration from Bangkok’s varied fabric, crazy infrastructure, and unique personality.
Indeed, one might even say that – with the mix of smells, noises, sights, and people – Bangkok is a very colorful city, which got me to thinking…musicians, artists, and authors have been inspired by this for centuries, so why can’t it inspire its own colors?
And, since I have an hour or so free tonight, Bangkok inspired me to make up some Bangkok (and Thailand)-inspired colors. Just for fun.
I do wonder what the x-rated version would look like.

That’s pretty funny! I have been listening to the Bangkok podcast (still catching up and loving it) and noticed that you say quite a few times that Bangkok doesn’t have a lot of green spaces. I think in some ways it makes up for that, compared to US cities like Denver, SLC, Anchorage, Seattle is the vegetation attached to and on top of the buildings that is completely lacking in the US in comparison.
I agree Bangkok is extremely colorful and cities here seem very monotone in comparison. So far I have been to Bangkok twice and trying to figure out how to move.

Hey Cody, thanks! You’re right, I didn’t consider that – lots of apartment buildings have gardens on their roofs, which isn’t so common in North America..it helps, but I’d rather have a few more huge parks in the city. 🙂
It’s easy to move to Bangkok, just do what I did – come to visit and forget to leave. 🙂
